Choices
The Story |
This song is an anthem of freedom. Stag proclaims Flower's right to choice,
and then declares his own freedom to choose not to help her. The first half
of this song marches forth with a powerful driving beat, then the second
part turns into a big guitar and harmonica jam reminiscent of the Grateful
Dead. Hey, every rock opera needs one good jam tune!

Lyrics:
It's your choice, I can’t tell you what to do
you may hear my voice, but I can’t command you
though I consider your actions an affront to my religion
my opinions get no traction, in the end it's your decision
you tell me that you acted out of lust
but I had faith in you, you broke my trust
now you’re doing what you feel you must
ashes to ashes, dust to dust
that’s your choice
It's my choice, you can’t tell me what to do
tho I hear your voice, I take no orders from you
and by the same token as I, protect your free will
you must respect mine, and I have no will to kill
we freely made this child with full intent
he could grow up to be high priest or president
we both knew what the Great Rite really meant
I won't pay his assassins and my will can not be bent
and that’s my choice
